The chemist and entrepreneur we are looking for this time started out as a pharmacist. In their pharmacy, called the “Grüne Apotheke”, they started to experiment with chemicals for photography, improved their purity, and developed methods for their industrial production. Our scientist later founded a chemical factory, but remained actively involved in science and was a co-founder of the German Chemical Society.
