The Italian Chemical Society (SCI) invites young Italian musicians between the ages of 18 and 30 to participate in a national competition. Participants are tasked with composing a six-minute soundtrack for a scientific film that illustrates different chemical phenomena. A creative and stimulating approach to describe the relationship between science and music to see the molecular world from a different perspective.
Interested composers can register by following the link: https://survey.alchemer.eu/s3/90675138/SCI2024-Concorso-Musica-Scienza and submit their entry by 12:00 noon on June 28, 2024.
A jury will select five finalists. They will be invited to present their composition on Friday, August 30, 2024, during the last day of the XXVIII National Congress of the Italian Chemical Society. The participants of the Congress will vote for their favorite soundtrack. Three winners will receive plaques, certificates, and cash prizes of €2,000, €1,500, and €1,000 respectively. The winning films will be shared on the Italian Chemical Society website and we will report on them in ChemistryViews.
The competition is organized by the Italian Chemical Society and the Istituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere and was conceived by Luisa De Cola with the musical advice of Daniela Uccello, soprano at Casa della Musica e delle Arti, Italy, and film director Francesco Leprino, director at Al Gran Sole, Italy.
