Lucas Meyer Cosmetics by Clariant has unveiled GlowCytocin™, a cosmetic ingredient designed to activate oxytocin receptors, mimicking the skin benefits of being in love.
This bioactive enhances skin luminosity, comfort, and a youthful appearance by promoting fibroblast and sensory neuron activity, the company says. Through in vitro, organ-on-a-chip, and placebo-controlled clinical studies, researchers at the company say they have demonstrated that GlowCytocin improves skin elasticity, reduces wrinkles, and increases receptiveness to pleasant touch.
GlowCytocin is a significant step forward in neurocosmetics and skincare, offering both immediate and long-term benefits for skin appearance and emotional well-being, the company says. GlowCytocin’s International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) includes Glycerin, Water, and Hyacinthus Orientalis (Hyacinth) Extract. The latter is derived from the bulbs of white hyacinth, according to the company.
