The GDCh (German Chemical Society) has chosen “Rethinking Chemistry” as the theme for its Wissenschaftsforum (Science Forum), known as WiFo for short. It is the most important chemistry congress in the German-speaking region and is organized by the GDCh, the largest professional organization for chemical sciences in the EU.
We talked to:
- Professor Peter Gärtner, President of the Österreichische Chemische Gesellschaft (GÖCH),
- Dr. Judith Giordan, President of the American Chemical Society (ACS),
- Professor Gianluca Maria Farinola, President of the Società Chimica Italiana (SCI),
- Dr. Helen Pain, CEO of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), and
- Professor Pall Thordarson, President of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI)
about rethinking chemistry at the conference. The video shows a short compilation of the interviews.
GDCh and RACI signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 5 September, 2023 in Leipzig, Germany, for advancing the collaboration between both societies. There are already MoUs or other cooperation agreements with the other societies.
A discussion with Stefanie Dehnen (President-elect of the GDCh), Karsten Danielmeier (current President), and Peter R. Schreiner (former President) on Rethinking Chemistry: Time to Rethink, Nachrichten aus der Chemie 2023, 71(12), 32-33.
