New President of the Polish Chemical Society (PCS)

Professor Robert Pietrzak, Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) in Poznań, Poland, has been elected President of the Polish Chemical Society (PCS). He begins his four-year term on January 1, 2025, and succeeds Professor Izabela Nowak, AMU, Poznań, Poland.

 

Robert Pietrzak studied chemistry at Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) in Poznań, Poland, where he received his Ph.D. in 2002. He obtained his habilitation in 2010 and was appointed professor of chemistry in 2017 at the same university. Currently, he works in the Department of Applied Chemistry and serves as Vice-Dean for Organizational Affairs.

Among many other awards, he received the Scientific Award of the City of Poznań in 2017 and the Commemorative Medal of the Polish Chemical Society. In 2024, for his outstanding achievements in chemical technology, which form the basis for the industrial implementation of innovative chemical products and processes, he was awarded the Ignacy Mościcki PCS Medal.

Robert Pietrzak’s research focuses on chemical technology, the chemistry and technology of coal and carbon materials, adsorption, and environmental protection.
