Merck’s just launched M-Trust™ platform is a β-stage, cyber-physical trust system designed to address challenges in product safety, traceability, and counterfeiting. It is intended for industries requiring high product safety and authenticity, such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, electronics, and other high-value or regulated goods, where rising expectations for quality control demand safety and transparency in industrial value chains while complying with stringent regulations.
M-Trust™ is a first-to-market platform that enhances product traceability and authenticity by digitally empowering human capabilities in quality control processes, the company says. It links physical products with digital identities using Web 3.0 technology, enabling digital twins, crypto anchors (to connect physical products with their digital identities), and smart contract capabilities to improve traceability, quality control, and supply chain transparency.
According to the company, the Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering includes software that integrates easily into existing workflows, adaptable crypto anchors for diverse security needs, and reader hardware. It is designed to evolve with advancing technologies and regulatory frameworks, such as the EU Digital Product Passport.
The M-Trust™ platform is being launched in beta to give verified users early access and the opportunity to shape its development.
