The scientist we are looking for this time first worked on quantum chemistry, but later performed important research on the use of diffraction in crystallography. They worked in Amsterdam together with a famous Dutch crystallographer, who is known for devising a method for the determination of the absolute configuration of molecules. Our chemist also published a book on symmetry in the paintings of famous artist M. C. Escher.
