The scientist we are looking for this time developed tests that simplified the diagnosis of an important disease from urine samples, working together with their spouse. Their work made it possible to perform this medical test in a more convenient and precise manner, even at home, using simple test strips based on filter paper. The test strips were impregnated with reagents which produce color changes in the presence of a particular monosaccharide.

Our chemist originally wanted to become a teacher, but changed their major at university to chemistry during World War II. After retirement, they actively promoted science education.
