A new report released by the European University Association (EUA), which analyzed tendencies and changes in doctoral education in various regions of the world, demonstrates that similar trends exist.
National research policies focus more and more on doctoral education, which becomes for governments a key element to develop knowledge societies. This goes along with a world-wide rise of the number of PhD students due to increased investments in doctoral education. Furthermore, university collaborations of any kind are emphasized, ranging from university partnerships and the pooling of university resources to world-wide collaborations between numerous institutions, sharing their research facilities.
