The fourth edition of the Scimago Institutions Ranking (SIR),
the SIR World Reports 2012, is the most comprehensive ranking of Worldwide Research Institutions. The ranking now includes 3,290 institutions that together are responsible for more than 80 % of worldwide scientific output during the term 2006–2010 as indexed in Elsevier’s Scopus database.

IC International Collaboration; NI Normalized Impact NI values relate the citation an institution receive comparing to world average which is equals to one; Q1 institution’s ability to put its scientific production within the best scholarly journals; SI Specialization Index indicates the specialization degree of institutions by characterizing the thematic dispersion (concentration) of their outputs.

SIR World Report 2012 IS NOT A LEAGUE TABLE. The ranking parameter – the scientific output of institutions– should be understood as a default rank, not as a final ranking proposal. But users are free to organize the high quality data provided for building, under their own responsibility and citing the source of data, customized rankings or reports as they wish.
