GTB Global Trade Berlin has developed design cases which protect the Apple iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, devices in a unique manner. A thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) from Covestro is used for the cases.

TPU is a block copolymer made from diisocyanates with short-chain diols and diisocyanates with long-chain diols. Sequences of hard/rigid and soft/elastic segments/domains alternate in the polymer. The structure of the polymer can be fine-tuned by varying the ratio, structure and/or molecular weight of the reaction compounds.

The TPU gives the iPhone cases high abrasion, scratch, and slip resistance, as well as a good shock absorption—one of the typical features of TPU plastic. Small air cushions provide additional protection by distributing the impact energy onto the case to protect the interior of the device.

The cases are produced under the brands BlackRock and WhiteDiamonds and are designed for different target groups.
