The scientist we are looking for this time brought about a revolution in protein chemistry. He or she first studied medicine, but was drawn to research and started to focus on biochemistry. His or her research career was almost entirely focused on the development and improvement of a single, but important, biochemical method.
Our scientist was of Scandinavian descent, worked in Australia for a period of time, and then returned to Europe. He or she had broad interests outside of science, including music and fishing. Contemporaries considered him or her to be shy, even somewhat aloof, and very meticulous.
