Angewandte Chemie 6/2016: Mild and Aromatic

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, P. D. Beer et al. review anion recognition in water. What are recent advances from a supramolecular or macromolecular perspective? In a Minireview, M. Toure and C. M. Crews discuss small-molecule proteolysis-targeting chimeras for protein degradation. The Highlight deals with light Hückel-aromatic boron compounds (B. Wrackmeyer).

In the Communications section, Z. Novák et al. present a mild and efficient direct trifluoroethylation of aromatic systems (see picture). M. Schmittel et al. found that conformational slippage determines the rotational frequency in five-component nanorotors. D. G. Nocera et al. reveal the electronic structure of copper corroles, and X. Tang et al. succeeded in the photochemical regulation of gene expression using caged vitamin E modified siRNAs.
