Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council, aims to boost the innovation capacity of its member companies by launching Grant-it – a unique service that provides a single access point to pre-filtered funding information. Grant-it will cover all major European grants and identify the most appropriate funding or financial incentives for member companies.
The EU has allocated more than 700 million Euros, so far, for co-funded projects on chemistry-related topics as part of its drive to increase European competitiveness. However, small or medium-size chemical companies (SME) rarely partake of the opportunities available, often finding EU funding too complex to deal with, which means that many innovative projects cannot get off the ground.
Cefic wants to change that and sees Grant-it as the first step in improving the engagement of chemical companies, especially SMEs, in public-funded research programs.
