Lanthanide(II)-based electron-transfer reagents are the subject of a Review by M. Szostak and D. J. Procter in this issue. What are the most promising perspectives beyond samarium diiodide? N,N-Dimethylformamide can be a building block, too, rather than just a solvent, explain S. Ding and N. Jiao in a Minireview. The Highlights deal with indole synthesis by cross-coupling (Z. Shi and F. Glorius) and continuous lithiation for the synthesis of organoboron compounds (A. A. Desai).

In the Communications section, P. Sozzani et al. show how porous dipeptide crystals can serve as nanoreactors for polymerization (see picture). M. J. Gaunt et al. were inspired by the biosynthesis of rhazinalam to synthesize aspidospermidine. C. Abell et al. used a fragment-based approach to target cytochrome P450 enzymes for drug development. O. Mentré et al. found a maple-leaf lattice and two-dimensional antiferromagnetism in [Mn3+xO7][Bi4O4.5−y].
