The 8th meeting of the Asian Chemical Editorial Society (ACES) was attended by representatives of chemical societies from Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Thailand, as well as from Wiley-VCH. Professor W. Koch, CEO of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh; German Chemical Society) also attended the ACES Meeting which took place at the Wiley-VCH offices in Weinheim on June 29, 2012.
Highlights of the Meeting
- A Support Agreement for Chemistry – An Asian Journal was signed between the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS) and ACES (see picture above).
- Another highlight was the imminent publication of the Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry, the second ACES journal.
First Pan-Asian Society Journals
ACES’s first and the very first pan-Asian society journal, Chemistry–An Asian Journal (CAJ), was launched in 2006. It quickly established itself as an international high-impact journal for chemistry in its broadest sense. The 2011 Impact Factor of Chemistry–An Asian Journal is 4.5. Its esteemed Editorial Board is chaired by Nobel Laureate Professor Ryoji Noyori from Japan.
The realization of a dream for organic chemists in Asia is the second ACES journal, the brand-new Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry (AsianJOC). Until now, the top international organic chemistry journals have been either American or European. Now, organic chemists in Asia have the chance to publish in a high-quality pan-Asian society journal.
The Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry, which just published its first Early View articles, covers organic chemistry in its entirety and publishes primary research and critical secondary information from authors across the world.
History of ACES
ACES was founded in 2005 by the Chinese Chemical Society, the Chemical Research Society of India, the Chemical Society of Japan, and the Korean Chemical Society. It currently consists of thirteen chemical societies throughout the Asia Pacific region which share a commitment to scientific excellence, to publishing ethics, and to the highest standards in publication.
ChemPubSoc Europe, the association of 16 European chemical societies, acts as supporting organization for Chemistry–An Asian Journal and the Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry. In addition the GDCh and FACS support Chemistry–An Asian Journal.
