In this issue, F. Würthner et al. discuss molecular assemblies of perylene bisimide dyes in water in a Review. What fascinating functional nanostructures do they form through strong hydrophobic interactions? Molecular scaffolds formed by multiple orthogonal conjugations in chemical biology and drug discovery are the subject of a Minireview by D. M. Beal and L. H. Jones. The Highlights deal with interspecies bacterial communication (R. J. Worthington and C. Melander) and boracyclophanes (F. P. Gabbaï). In his Editorial, H. Waldmann discusses how drug discovery is the third in the band of chemical biology and organic synthesis.
In the Communications section, N. Teramae et al. report on the strong and selective binding of amiloride to an abasic site in double-stranded RNA (see picture). Y.-C. Tsai et al. succeeded in the synthesis of a quintuply bonded dimolybdenum complex, in which the Mo–Mo bond is bridged by a lithium cation. T. H. Warren et al. present a catalytic C–H amination with aromatic amines.
