We are pleased to welcome Dr. Greta Heydenrych as the new Editor-in-Chief of ChemPhysChem. Greta joined the editorial team in 2007 and has been instrumental to the growth of the journal during the last three and a half years. She was Deputy Editor from July 2009 to the end of June, 2011.
After more than eleven years of continued hard work and dedication, which have made ChemPhysChem one of the most successful publications in the field of physical chemistry and chemical physics, our Founding Editor, Dr. Peter Gölitz, has decided that the time is right for Greta to take over the responsibility for the journal. The representatives of the many European chemical societies that form ChemPubSocEurope support this decision.
“I would like to thank our owner society members for the trust they put in me and I am sure that with the societies’ support ChemPhysChem will go from strength to strength”, Greta says.
Peter will of course continue fostering the journal as its Founding Editor.
After finishing her PhD in 2005 in the research groups of Jan Dillen and Helgard Raubenheimer at Stellenbosch University (South Africa), where she carried out a computational study of the nickel-catalyzed hydrocyanation of alkenes, Greta went on to do postdoctoral research in the groups of Len Barbour, Stellenbosch University, South Africa, where she studied the structure and kinetics of certain inclusion compounds, and Gernot Frenking, Marburg, Germany, where she investigated bonding aspects in organometallic compounds. Greta also did some research on transition-metal-catalyzed Diels-Alder reactions.
She started working for ChemPhysChem at the end of 2007 and has excellent plans for an even brighter future of the journal: “I am quite excited about the future of ChemPhysChem“, she says. “We are doing very well in terms of the quality of our content and our publication times are steadily going down. I would like ChemPhysChem to become the one-stop physical chemistry journal not only for physical chemists, but for all chemists! To achieve this, the ChemPhysChem staff is working hard at obtaining good articles for the journal and building lasting relationships in the chemistry community.”
