Professor Zhang-Jie Shi, Peking University, China, is the winner of the Tetrahedron Young Investigator Awards for Organic Synthesis and Professor B.G. Davis, University of Oxford, UK, is the winner of the Tetrahedron Young Investigator Awards for Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry. They have been selected because of their “exceptional creativity and dedication” in their fields. The awards will be formally presented at the 13th Tetrahedron Symposium, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Each recipient will give a plenary lecture and will receive a certificate and an award of US $ 1,000.
The Tetrahedron Young Investigator Awards were created in 2005 by the Executive Board of Editors and the Publisher of Tetrahedron Publications.
Benjamin G. Davis is Professor of Chemistry, Fellow and Tutor in Organic Chemistry at Pembroke College, Oxford, UK. Ben Davis got his B.A. (1993) and D.Phil. (1996) from the University of Oxford, under the supervision of Professor George Fleet. He spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Professor Bryan Jones at the University of Toronto. In 2001 he moved from the University of Durham to the Dyson Perrins Laboratory, University of Oxford, and received a fellowship at Pembroke College, Oxford.
Zhang-Jie Shi is Professor at the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at Peking University, China. He received his B.Sc in chemistry at East China Normal University, Shanghai, China, in 1996, and his PhD in organic chemistry in 2001 under the supervision of Professor Shengming Ma from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. From 2001–2002 Shi was an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow for chemical biology at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Harvard University (with Gregory L. Verdine), and from 2002–2004 for chemical biology and organic chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, The University of Chicago, USA, (with Chuan He).
