In this issue, M. Mutailipu and S. Pan review candidates for deep-ultraviolet nonlinear optics. What materials hold the most promise? The Minireviews deal with copper-catalyzed borylative couplings with C–N electrophiles (D. J. Procter et al.) and dual functionalization of fluorophores for use in probes (E. J. New et al.).
In the original research section, W. Sander et al. investigate the influence of solvent interactions on heavy-atom tunneling in the benzene-oxide/oxepin equilibrium. M. Fujita et al. observed chiral transformations within a metal–peptide pore by means of X-ray crystallography. M. Li et al. present a SERS-active MIL-(100)Fe sensory array for ultrasensitive multiplex detection of volatile organic compounds (see picture). M. Ubbink et al. describe the dynamics of ligand binding to a rigid glycosidase.
