Wladimir Reschetilowski, Technical University of Dresden, Germany, celebrates his 70th birthday on January 22, 2020.
Reschetilowski’s work focuses on technical chemistry and catalysis as well as the history of chemistry. In particular, his research interests include zeolite catalysis, microstructured reactors, and the use of renewable chemical feedstocks.
Wladimir Reschetilowski was born in Rjasskoje, Ukraine, in 1950. He studied chemistry at the Shevchenko University, Kyiv, Ukraine, and at the Technical University of Leuna-Merseburg, Germany. He completed his Ph.D. in 1979 and his habilitation in 1987, both with work on zeolite catalysts. In 1988, he became Lecturer of technical chemistry at the University of Leipzig, Germany. In 1991, he became Head of the technical chemistry group at the Karl Winnacker Institute of DECHEMA Gesellschaft für Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie e.V. (Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. In 1994, Reschetilowski was named Honorary Professor of technical chemistry at the University of Leipzig and in 1996, he became Full Professor of technical chemistry at the Technical University of Dresden.
