Managing research data is becoming increasingly complex. New concepts and standards are needed to share data from experiments or computations and to reuse them. The German Research Foundation (DFG) emphasizes the importance of research data management in her new codex for good scientific practice, recommending to publish research data in open data repositories. However, many details like data formats to use or how to describe data properly are still unclear.
Together with researchers, the NFDI4Chem consortium aims to cross-link and digitalize processes in chemistry. As a grassroots movement of researchers, infrastructure experts, and learned societies such as the GDCh (German Chemical Society), NFDI4Chem wants to develop a research data infrastructure in line with the needs of researchers from all areas of chemistry. To gain a good overview, they have started a survey in July. More than 600 researchers from Germany and elsewhere have already taken part in the survey. Many have provided very detailed information.
To cover as much as possible from the community the survey has been extended until the end of November. If you provide your email, the Initiators would like to contact you for in-depth interviews.
