Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

On the occasion of the GDCh Science Forum 2019, the journal’s Editor, N. Compton, writes about strong partnership and European collaboration in an Editorial. M. Beller et al. review catalytic reductive N-alkylations with CO2 and carboxylic acid derivatives; A. J. Baeumner et al. review nanocontainers for analytical applications. The Minireviews deal with high-throughput carbohydrate-active enzymology (L. Chao, S. Jongkees), imidodiphosphorimidate catalysts (B. List et al.), strigolactone plant hormones (A. De Mesmaeker et al.), separation techniques for the analysis of the protein corona (K. Landfester et al.), lanthanide metallobiochemistry (L. J. Daumann), and enantioselective C–H activation with earth-abundant 3d transition metals (L. Ackermann et al.).

In the original research section, S. Hecht et al. describe the modulation of guest uptake in core–shell MOFs with visible light (see picture). H. Frey et al. succeeded in the polymerization of glycidyl tosylate, which enables universal post-functionalization of polyethers. Y. Grin et al. found an unconventional metal–framework interaction in MgSi5, and J. C. M. van Hest et al. observed the ATP-mediated transient behavior of stomatocyte nanosystems.
