Angewandte Chemie 38/2018: Synergetic Combinations

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, C. J. Weschler et al. review methods to assess human exposure to organic pollutants indoors. How can outside-in and inside-out approaches be combined synergistically? In a Minireview, T. Liu et al. discuss manipulation of metal-to-metal charge transfer for switchable materials. D. A. Leigh et al. comment on the recent Communication by K.-W. Chi et al. on the coordination-driven self-assembly of a molecular knot that comprises 16 crossings.

In the Communications section, Y. Watanabe et al. describe a whole-cell biotransformation of benzene to phenol catalyzed by intracellular cytochrome P450BM3 activated by external additives. (see picture). W. Schuhmann et al. found that the local activities of hydroxide and water determine the operation of silver-based depolarized cathodes. B. M. Trost and G. Mata succeeded in the enantioselective palladium-catalyzed [3+2] cycloaddition of trimethylenemethane and fluorinated ketones.
