The chemist we are looking for this time developed an early industrial process for the production of cellulose from wood. However, disputes with other inventors over patents for the process led to prolonged litigation.

Our scientist worked with the “founder” of organic chemistry and several other eminent chemists of the nineteenth century. He or she was the child of a chemist and the godchild of famous naturalist and explorer Alexander von Humboldt.
