Getafix (in English), also known as Miraculix (in German) or Panoramix (in French), is the resident druid in a small Gallic village trying to resist the Roman occupation in approximately 50 B.C. He is a fictional character in the comic strip universe of “The Adventures of Asterix”, originally created by the French artists René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo.
Getafix is usually pictured in possession of a small golden sickle used to cut mistletoes, one of the main ingredients of his famous strength-enhancing “magic potion”. This potion has been the last resort for Asterix and his companions in many difficult encounters on the way to victory. Getafix also has a vast knowledge of medicines and other helpful potions, which not only qualifies him as the resident chemist in town, but also as the village doctor and occasional teacher.
