ChemPubSoc Europe and Wiley-VCH have named Dr. Anne Devison as Editor-in-Chief of ChemistrySelect, one of the latest journals from ChemPubSoc Europe. She succeeded Dr. Natalia Ortuzar in 2016. ChemistrySelect covers all areas of chemistry and adjacent fields. Due to the steady increase in submissions to the top titles, often good research articles are failing to find a home within the ChemPubSoc Europe family of journals. As a sister journal to Chemistry—A European Journal, ChemPlusChem, and ChemistryOpen it offers researchers around the world a quality society-owned journal in which to publish their work.
Anne C. Deveson obtained her BSc in chemistry from the University of East Anglia (UEA), Norwich, UK, in 1991 and her PhD in the field of bioinorganic chemistry under the supervision of Annie Powell in 1995. After a postdoctoral research on copper–chalcogenide clusters in the group of Diester Fenske at the Universität Karlsruhe, Germany, She joined Wiley-VCH as part of the editorial team for Chemistry—A European Journal in 1997. Currently, she is Deputy Editor of Chemistry—A European Journal and Editor-in-Chief of ChemistrySelect.
ChemViews talked to Anne about her promotion.
What fascinates you about your job?
The great thing about being an editor is that you have the privilege of being one of the first people to read the latest great research results from all over the world. I never know what each new day will bring or what exciting innovations will cross my desk.
Do you have a message for your predecessor?
A big thank you to Natalia Ortuzar who put in all the work behind the scenes that got this journal off the ground at the beginning of 2016. Having taken over in May last year it has been a pleasure and a challenge to see how the journal has grown in such a short time.
We received over 2000 submissions and published over 1000 manuscripts. This achievement would not have been possible without the support of our Editorial Board, especially the chairs Didier Astruc, Hélène Lebel, and An-Hui Lu, as well as the dedicated editorial team of Dörthe Mellmann, David Peralta, and Yingxiao Cai
Do you have a message for your authors/readers?
A fast production workflow of accepted articles ensures rapid dissemination to the scientific community. Pages numbers are provided with the first publication online to allow immediate and accurate citing.
Thank you and congratulations.
