ExxonMobil and ADNOC, a leading diversified energy and petrochemicals group wholly owned by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, have partnered to develop what they claim will be the world’s largest low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia facility in Baytown, TX, USA. ADNOC acquired a 35% stake in the project, which will convert U.S.-produced natural gas into hydrogen while capturing 98% of CO2 emissions, supporting decarbonization and advancing the net-zero goals of both companies.

This facility, set to start in 2029 pending regulatory approvals, will produce up to 1 billion cubic feet (bcf) of low-carbon hydrogen daily and over 1 million tons of low-carbon ammonia annually. A final investment decision (FID) is expected in 2025.
