In this issue, Xiao-Yu Yang et al. review the long-term durability of seawater electrolysis for hydrogen from catalysts to systems. The Minireviews deal with biorthogonal synthetic chemistry enabled by visible-light photocatalysis (José L. Mascareñas et al.) as well as small-molecule RNA degraders (Gonçalo J. L. Bernardes et al.). In a Correspondence, Luca Rocchigiani et al. ask whether a gold-catalyzed Heck reaction is fact or fiction.
In the original research section, Xiaojun Peng et al. present near-infrared heptamethine cyanine photosensitizers with efficient singlet oxygen generation for anticancer therapy. Santanu Mukherjee et al. succeeded in catalytic enantioselective Friedel–Crafts allenylations. Sofia Diaz-Moreno et al. tracked minority species in redox reactions in a quantitative combined XAS and modulation excitation study. Rui Cao et al. improved the active-site local proton transfer in porous organic polymers for better oxygen electrocatalysis (see picture).
