In this issue, Xavi Ribas et al. survey novel approaches for oxidant-free Au(I)/Au(III) catalysis focusing on the hemilabile ligand strategy in a Minireview. A further Minireview deals with photon upconversion and downshifting in chiral systems to modulate circularly polarized luminescence (Tonghan Zhao and Pengfei Duan). Erin Leitao and Harvey MacKenzie look back on the life and achievements of Ian Manners in an Obituary.
In the original research section, Valentine P. Ananikov et al. reveal the mechanism of combined homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis in hybrid Pd/NHC systems. Martin M. Thuo et al. succeeded in the stereo-structural fine-tuning of chromaticity by anaerobic pyrolysis. Sarah L. J. Michel et al. present chemoselective proteomics, zinc fingers, and a zinc(II) model for H2S-mediated persulfidation. By means of machine-learning molecular dynamics, Jun Cheng et al. identified an anomalous entropic effect on catalysis through surface pre-melting of nanoclusters (see picture).
