In this issue, Gang Zheng et al. review activatable photosensitizers from fundamental principles to advanced designs. The Minireviews deal with photoexcited transition-metal-catalyzed carbon–halogen bond formation (Mark Lautens et al.) as well as the ambient aqueous synthesis of covalent organic frameworks (Chao Xu et al.). Yuanning Feng et al. highlight research on near-infrared-activated nanoparticles that contain charge transfer complexes for photoimmunotherapy.
In the original research section, Shungui Zhou et al. present liquid metal nanohybrids for high-performance solar-driven methanogenesis via multi-interface engineering (see picture). Polly L. Arnold et al. succeeded in the ligand-directed actinide oxo-bond manipulation in actinyl thiacalix[4]arene complexes. Nikki A. Thiele et al. describe research towards the stable chelation of radioantimony(V) for targeted Auger theranostics. Hu Chen et al. report on an amorphous donor–acceptor conjugated polymer with high charge carrier mobility and luminescence quantum efficiency.
