In this issue, Mingshan Zhu et al. review research on spin state regulation for peroxide activation. Ao Yu and Yang Yang summarize work on atomically dispersed metal catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction. K. Barry Sharpless and coauthors reflect on click chemistry and the certainty of chance in his Nobel lecture. Wen-Jing Xiao et al. highlight research on photobiocatalytic reactions. A new member of the Angewandte Chemie family of journals is introduced in an Editorial by the editors-in-chief: Angewandte Chemie Novit.
In the original research section, Bartosz Szyszko et al. describe how the interplay between component denticity and flexibility promotes the formation of [AgI···AgI]-stabilized links and knots. Changhua Li et al. report on photothermal agents as a universal platform for smart immune NIR-agonists for precise anti-tumor therapy. Silke Behrens et al. succeeded in the single-step synthesis of dimethyl ether from syngas over nanoparticle-derived bifunctional Pd/CeO2/Al2O3 catalysts (see picture). Li Zhang et al. present three-dimensional metal–organic frameworks with selectively activated aromatic rings for high-capacity and high-rate lithium-ion storage.
