The chemist we are looking for this time was born in Pennsylvania, USA, to Norwegian immigrant parents and spent much of their career at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where they led groundbreaking research on protein structure and folding.

The most famous work of our chemist involved the enzyme ribonuclease. They were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry and were a strong advocate for human rights, supporting scientists facing persecution in their home countries.
