Angewandte Chemie 8/2024: Rational Design

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, Yu-Bin Dong et al. review opportunities for the rational design of covalent organic frameworks in cancer therapy. Mauro Mato and Josep Cornella summarize the role of bismuth in radical chemistry and catalysis. The Minireviews deal with biological and synthetic approaches for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction (Erwin Reisner et al.), lignin upconversion by functionalization and network formation (Rainer Haag et al.), as well as the preparation and application of organogermanes in synthesis and catalysis (Franziska Schoenebeck et al.).

In the original research section, Markita P. Landry et al. present glucose oxidase–carbon nanotube conjugates for tissue-translatable glucose nanosensors. Yongjia Shang et al. report the construction of C–S and C–Se bonds from unconstrained ketone precursors under photoredox catalysis. Florian P. Seebeck et al. succeeded in the enzyme-catalyzed oxidative degeneration of ergothioneine, and Klaus Müllen et al. describe the thermolysis of biphenylene toward cyclo-ortho-phenylenes (see picture).
