Angewandte Chemie 52/2023: ‘Tis the Season

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, Christine Wiebe et al. discuss the future of (radio)-labeled compounds in the life science industry in a Review. Anthony P. Green et al. summarize the engineering of enzymes for environmental sustainability. The Minireviews deal with frontier molecular orbital engineering for narrowband organic electroluminescent materials (Yue Wang et al.), holey two-dimensional platinum-group metals in electrocatalysis (In Su Lee et al.), as well as MXene-based membranes for drinking water production (Haihui Wang et al.). Christian Griesinger et al. look back on the life of Tony W. Keller, a pioneer of NMR spectroscopy.

In the original research section, Jeroen S. Dickschat et al. report the discovery of spiroluchuene A synthase, which forms a spirotetracyclic diterpene. Rachel A. Caruso et al. used rational atom substitution, assisted by machine learning and DFT calculations, to obtain efficient lead-free photocatalytic perovskites. Wei Zhang et al. describe the simultaneous chiral fixation and regulation with dynamic covalent bonds (see picture). Akkattu T. Biju et al. succeeded in the enantioselective synthesis of C–O axially chiral diaryl ethers by NHC-catalyzed atropselective desymmetrization.
