Thongthai Witoon, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand, has received the Wiley–Chemical Society of Thailand (CST) Award for Contributions to Green Chemistry 2019. The prize honors outstanding green chemistry research by young Thai chemists. The award was presented at the Pure and Applied Chemistry International Conference (PACCON 2020) in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 14, 2020.
Thongthai Witoon studied chemical engineering at Kasetsart University, where he received his Ph.D. under the Thai government’s Royal Golden Jubilee Ph.D. Programme and serves as Associate Professor. His research interests include the synthesis of porous silica materials, separation, catalysis, and the conversion of CO2 or biomass to value-added chemicals.
Among other honors, he has received the National Young Scientist Award in 2014, the Thailand Frontier Researcher Award in 2016, the 2017/2018 Petroleum Institute of Thailand (PTIT) Scholar Award, and the 2018 TRF-OHEC-Scopus Researcher Award from the Thailand Research Fund (TRF), the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC), and Scopus.
