Kurt Wagemann, Executive Director of DECHEMA, Gesellschaft für Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie e.V.— a network for chemical engineering and biotechnology in Germany—celebrates his 60th birthday on August 17, 2019.
Wagemann studied chemistry at the University of Munich, Germany, and received his Ph.D. in 1989 from the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, Garching, Germany. Wagemann has worked for DECHEMA in different roles since 1989, e.g, in Research Planning, Congresses, and for Research Management and Administration.
In 2010, Wagemann took over the position of DECHEMA’s Executive Director. In February 2011, he was appointed Honorary Professor at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. Among other commitments, he also serves as Vice-President of the German federation of industrial research associations (AiF, Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen).
