Dr. Vera Köster, Wiley-VCH, Weinheim, Germany, has been awarded the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh, German Chemical Society) Prize for Journalists and Writers. The prize is awarded for outstanding contributions to the communication of chemistry to a broader audience. Köster is honored for her role in the planning, development, and running of this website, ChemistryViews.org, and its associated online magazine, ChemViews. The award will be presented on March 5, 2012, by GDCh President Professor Barbara Albert at the Chemiedozententagung meeting at the University of Freiburg, Germany.
Vera Köster studied chemistry and received her Ph.D. from the University of Bielefeld, Germany. She joined Wiley-VCH in 2001 as a project editor on Ullmann’s Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry and has worked on several journals, including Chemical Engineering & Technology and as Managing Editor of Clean—Soil, Air, Water. She has been Managing Editor of ChemistryViews and Editor-in-Chief of ChemViews since 2010. She is also on the committee of the Mannheim section of the Federal Association of Artists of the Fine Arts.
