The Pierre Süe Prize 2017, one of the most important awards of the Société Chimique de France (SCF, French Chemical Society), has been awarded to Professor Emeritus André Mortreux, University of Lille, France. The prize recognizes a French chemist whose work is acclaimed on an international level. It was presented during a ceremony on May 25, 2018, in Dijon, France.
André Mortreux is honored for his outstanding contributions to the development of organometallic catalysts and to green chemistry using renewable plant-based substances. His research interests include homogenous catalysis and coordination chemistry with a focus on industrial applications and sustainable chemistry.
André Mortreux received his Ph.D. from the University of Poitiers, France, in 1975 and started teaching in Lille in 1977. Among other honors, he has received the Clavel–Lespieau Prize from the French Academy of Sciences in 2001.
