Why have you selected this article?
George Rosenkranz, 101 years old, is a pharmaceutical researcher and much better known internationally than in his homeland Hungary. In this paper, we wanted to introduce his extremely successful life to our readers—and now, also to some of our readers worldwide.
What is the article about?
George Rosenkranz was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1916. He earned his Ph.D. degree at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. As the research director of Sytex, Mexico, he and his colleagues prepared and marketed numerous steroid and non-steroid analgetics which are still sold today. Together with L. Miramontes and C. Djerassi, he contributed to the development of the first contraceptive pill.
Can you say a few words about yourself, please?
I am Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Szeged, Hungary, and have been the Editor-in-Chief of Magyar Kémikusok Lapja since 2008.
