In this issue, U. S. Schubert et al. review metals and organic redox-active materials for redox-flow batteries. How can such materials be used to store electrical energy? The Highlight deals with organic syntheses through ultrafast chemistry (T. Wirth).
In the Communications section, Z. Xie et al. present a facile approach to mono(hetero)arylated and di(hetero)arylated functionalized o-carboranes (see picture). H. T. Soh et al. describe multiparameter particle display, a quantitative screening method for highly specific aptamers. F. Meilleur et al. found oxygen activation at the active site of a fungal lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase, and S. Matile et al. succeeded in catalysis with chalcogen bonds.
