From May 1st, Dr. Ljuba A. Woppowa is the CEO of the VDI-GVC (Verein Deutscher Ingenieure – Gesellschaft Verfahrenstechnik und Chemieingenieurwesen, the Association of German Engineers and Society for Chemical Engineering).
The magazine CITplus just published an interview with Ljuba Woppowa, asking professional and personal questions like ‘What are your next goals for your work at the VDI-GVC?’ or ‘What are you reading at the moment?’. Her answer to the second question includes Mikael Niemi’s novel Popular Music from Vittula and J. M. G. Le Clèzio’s Pawana, whereas her next plans are to connect people and themes of the different scientific disciplines.
Ljuba A. Woppowa studied chemistry at the Georg August University, Göttingen, Germany, and gained her Ph.D. from the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen. She has worked for over 15 years at the Commission on Air Pollution Prevention of VDI and Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V. (DIN, German Institute for Standardization) in the field of environmental protection. The focal points of her tenure there are in analytical chemistry, microbiology and laser physics.
