At a recent get-together in Madrid, Spain, Joseph Wang (right), University of California, San Diego, USA, and José M. Pingarrón (left), Complutense University of Madrid, used the late-night hours to finalize the strategic planning for 2012. They connected online with I-Ming Hsing, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Arkady A. Karyakin, M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia, and together they coordinated upcoming special issues on “chemical sensors” and “electrochemistry in Italy”. Thereafter, numerous new submissions needed to be sent out for peer review.
