The GDCh-FG-Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology Prize 2010 for first or main authors of excellent scientific publications in the fields of environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology, is this year shared by Dr. Annekatrin Dreyer and Dr. Marianne Matzke. The award comprises a certificate and a prize of € 3000 donated by the GDCh division for environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology and was presented at this year’s joint annual meeting of the division and the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry at the Umweltbundesamt in Dessau, Germany.
Dr. Annekatrin Dreyer (pictured) did her PhD at the Institute for costal research GKSS-Forschungszentrum Geesthacht. She investigated the atmospheric transport of per- and polyfluorierte substances from a research ship which allowed her to document the global transport of these substances up to the remote areas.
Dr. Marianne Matzke did her PhD at the university of Bremen. She made an important contribution to the determination of terrestric toxicities of ionic liquids, the influence of constitutents of soil, and the ecotoxicological effects of these substances.
