Staudinger ligation as a method for bioconjugation is the topic of a Review by J. C. M. van Hest et al.: Which Staudinger ligation probes are frequently applied and how are they used in life and materials sciences? In a Minireview, E. Fernandez-Megia et al. discuss the conjugation of biomolecules through click reactions, namely Huisgen azide–alkyne cycloadditions. The Highlights deal with a short total synthesis of bryostatin 1 (S. Manaviazar and K. J. Hale) and direct silicon-catalyzed Mukaiyama reactions (C. Palomo et al.).

In the Communications section, T. Swager et al. report a Claisen rearrangement of graphite oxide as a route to covalently functionalized graphenes. X. Bu et al. present a porous indium–organic framework (see picture) and suggest a system of indium-based building blocks and their cooperative and competitive roles in the crystallization of chiral and achiral porous frameworks. S. Matsubara et al. succeeded in the nickel-catalyzed cycloaddition of α,β,γ,δ-unsaturated ketones with alkynes.
