RAGT and Bayer are collaborating to jointly develop hybrid wheat varieties. Hybrid wheat is a cross between two carefully selected, pure wheat lines. This means that the hybrid variety has genes from both parent varieties.
The advantages of hybrid wheat varieties include a more developed root system, earlier maturity, resistance to stress factors such as cold, drought or waterlogging, and good disease resistance. This leads to an improvement in yield consistency compared to conventional varieties and offers farmers the opportunity to meet the challenges of climate change while achieving higher productivity in sustainable cropping systems.
By combining Bayer’s expertise in crop protection, seed production systems, and digital solutions in agriculture with RAGT’s know-how in seed variety innovation, the companies aim to advance the development of hybrid wheat technology and offer an innovative wheat cropping system.

Dear Autor,
Thank you so much for your page. It is really interesting,
You are mentioned: ” The advantages of hybrid wheat varieties include a more developed root system, earlier maturity, resistance to stress factors such as cold, drought or waterlogging, and good disease resistance”
Do you have any scientific articles which prove sentences? I am a farmer in Germany and want to buy large-scale hybrid wheat, but after searching the internet, I found no evidence that hybrids are better than inbred lines just they are expensive.
Best wishes
