Thermo Fisher Scientific completed its acquisition of Alfa Aesar, a leading global manufacturer of research chemicals, from Johnson Matthey Plc, for £256 million (approx. $400 million) in cash.

Alfa Aesar has approximately 480 employees at locations in the UK, US, Germany, China, South Korea, and India. The business generated sales of approximately £78 million in 2014 and will be integrated into Thermo Fisher’s Laboratory Products and Services Segment.
