Dow Chemical announced it voluntarily completed a program to replace mercury-based catalysts from its polyurethane elastomer products. They did this prior to the European Union’s formal recommendation to phase out these catalysts, and five years before such compliance is mandated.
A complete suite of re-engineered polyurethane elastomer products, HYPERLAST™ and DIPRANE™, was already launched in March. Eight different catalyst packages replace the mercury-containing one.
