Upcycling of Plastic Bags – ChemistryViews.org IYC Video Competition
This newly discovered green chemistry ‘upcycling’ trick breathes new life into used plastic bags, plates and glasses. It is solvent-free, one-step and environmentally-friendly and allows us to not only recycle more plastic bags, but actually convert them into highly valuable dry products: carbon nanotubes and carbon spheres. The materials produced from waste plastics found numerous applications, such as toner ink, adsorbent for water purification, additives for lubrication and electrodes for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
